Worrigee Sports Club declared a Lighthouse Club

Worrigee Sports Club has been heralded as a shining light for school bowls by “Lets Play Bowls”, an organisation promoting bowls in schools.

Steve Stobbs is the Secretary of the club, and a long time teacher. He is also the South Coast Coordinator of Lets Play Bowls.

Steve, and Lets Play Bowls, have been encouraging enthusiastic members to step out and promote the sport of bowls in local schools, both Primary, and High Schools.

Uptake has been slow to start, but in term 2 the organisation, with the assistance of six local volunteers, will be hosting 186 students from five local schools, at three different bowling clubs. The program will also feature a finals series, with winners qualifying for the South Coast finals series. The South Coast finals will also be hosted by Worrigee Sports.
